West Cork’s Barryroe Co-op has paid tribute to its milk suppliers in its latest newsletter for consistently producing high-quality milk and its efficient collection systems.
Each year, audit firm KPMG, are commissioned to independently verify the price paid for milk by co-ops across Ireland. The Milk Price League results for 2012 were published recently and the news was good for west Cork with the four Carbery co-ops again heading up the league table.
Its newsletter highlighted Barryroe’s “excellent track record over the past number of years”. It topped the table in 2012, placed second in 2011 and 2010 and on top again in 2009.
The newsletter continued: “The role of Carbery and its sustained strong performance must be acknowledged. Barryroe Co-ops milk suppliers, however, must also take credit for consistently producing high-quality milk and having it collected in a most cost-efficient manner.”
The Barryroe Group employs 220 and has an annual turnover of €110m.
