AGCO will shortly launch Lely (Welger) round balers and Lely self-loading silage wagons, among other products, in Fendt colours – as part of Fendt’s growing product line-up.

These pictures (below) depict a Welger round baler wearing a Fendt livery; this will become a reality here in the Irish market. Similarly, Lely Tigo forage wagons will also become available as Fendt-badged products.

In tandem with this, industry sources have suggested that existing Lely (forage equipment) dealers will only have access to Welger balers and Lely wagons for one more season – though we are awaiting official confirmation of this.

This follows on from news – earlier this year – that AGCO was to purchase Lely’s ‘forage’ division, including its mowers, tedders, rakes, (Welger) balers and wagons. The deal includes the transfer of ownership and control of the German factories in Wolfenbuttel (balers) and Waldstetten (self-loading wagons) to AGCO. The employees will also ‘move’ from Lely to AGCO.

This will leave Lely to “focus on the development of robotics and other innovations in dairy farming”.

AGCO has also officially unveiled its Fendt-liveried rubber-tracked Challenger tractors. Deliveries of the first such machines across Europe are planned for the first quarter of next year (2018).

AGCO has also revealed Fendt-branded sprayers. This follows news that AGCO is to phase out the ‘Challenger’ brand-name in Europe. Instead, it will feature in AGCO’s plans for North America, South America, Asia-Pacific and Africa.

That means that Challenger’s sprayers (alongside its high-horsepower, rubber-tracked tractors mentioned above) will no longer bear the Challenger name here in Europe – hence the advent of this Fendt-liveried version (below).

Also unveiled at the major Fendt event today was AGCO’s new ‘IDEAL’ combine harvester (below). Three model types are on offer – namely a 78 and 9. These machine types can be further subdivided into three versions.

These are: the standard or “flat land” combine; the PL (designed to work on slopes); and the T (tracked version). The range-topping model has a 647hp engine.
