The De Courcey Classic and Vintage Club Harvest Working Day is set to take place on bank holiday Monday, August 7, in Co. Cork – and will run from 12:00pm until 6:00pm.
The working day is moving to a new site this year at Harbour View, Kilbrittain, Co. Cork, and will take place on the farm of club member Derry Desmond.
The event is run by the De Courcey Classic and Vintage Club, and will be supported by Claas dealer McCarthy Plant and Agri Sales Ltd of Carrigtwohill, Co. Cork.
There will be continuous displays of harvesting, tilling and horse work throughout the one-day event.
Organisers highlighted the extensive range of machines – from horse-drawn reapers to trailed combines, and early self-propelled models to modern giant harvesters – with all types of equipment set for show on the day.
According to the vintage club, the number of machines on display grows every year – with some recently-restored vintage combines expected to make their debut at the event, where all brands are welcome.
This year will also have a silage cutting demonstration which, according to the club, is a first for the organisers.
The emphasis will be on vintage and rare machines, but Claas will also use the event to promote its latest silage harvesters.
Opening the day will be Claas CEO for the UK and Ireland, Trevor Tyrrell. He was previously at the 2013 event, when the focus was on celebrating 100 years of Claas machinery.
The Claas display will be a “must-see” for all tractor and machinery fans. The working day will also showcase the latest Claas Jaguar 970 silage harvester, which will be in action at the event.
All working combines must register ahead of the day. Silage cutting slots will be allocated before the event but anyone bringing equipment will be able to put it on show in the static area.
