ABP Food Group has announced two new managerial changes which will come into effect on April 1.
Finbarr McDonnell will take up the position of Chief Operating Officer for ABP Food Group and joins the board.
McDonnell has worked in the company for many years, most recently as Managing Director of ABP Ireland and Poland, will now take on a wider group role supporting all the business units.
During his time at the helm of ABP Ireland and Poland, McDonnell developed and grew ABP’s significant Polish division and oversaw developments in the group’s Irish division.
These developments are said to “stand to the business for many years to come”.
According to ABP, his “extensive” experience will be a huge asset to the wider group as it navigates through the coming years.
Martin Kane will replace McDonnell as Managing Director of ABP Ireland and Poland. Kane, 43, has been with the company for 21 years in various finance roles.
For the past 10 years he was Finance Director for ABP Ireland and Poland, where he has worked closely with the management teams in all aspects of the business, including the acquisitions of the numerous Polish sites.
Back in October of 2016, it was revealed that the company, owned by Larry Goodman, had acquired a third beef processing plant in Poland.
In March 2016, Ireland’s largest beef processor notified the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection in Poland of its intentions to buy a third processor. It had been confirmed that ABP had bought the plant from Polish processor Sklodowsky, which is situated in Tykocin, eastern Poland.
The facility will increase the group’s production capacity in Poland to up to 250,000 cattle per year.
