A man in his 70s has died following a farm accident in Tipperary after he was crushed under the vehicle he was working under.
A Garda spokesperson said that the incident happened in Cullen, Tipperary, around 4pm yesterday.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene and was then removed to Waterford University Hospital.
Gardai and the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) are investigating the accident.
It brings to 19, the number of farm fatalities that have happened on Irish farms this year. Last month, there was three farm fatalities.
Last week an 83-year-old farmer has died following an accident which happened on in Co. Cork on November 29. It is understood that the farmer fell from a vehicle, understood to be a quad bike.
Two weeks previous to that, a man in his 60s died following a farm accident in Co. Carlow. The incident happened on a farm in Athboy, Hacketstown.
The week before that, a 43-year-old man died after he was involved in an accident involving machinery on a farm in Farranfore, Co.Kerry.
Farming continues to be the most hazardous occupation in Ireland, consistently reporting the highest number of fatalities in comparison to other sectors over the last number of years, according to the HSA.
In recent years 19 people, on average, have been killed each year in farm related workplace incidents.
